Eagleton Reaffirms Refusal to Release Medical Records

Democratic vice presidential candidate Thomas F Eagleton again refuses to release his past hospital records for nervous exhaustion and fatigue. He says he will discuss disclosure with doctors while scheduling a news conference to address questions about the medical history. He revealed treatment in 1960 1964 and 1966 including psychiatric care and electric shock, and noted he told McGovern after the convention.

Lorain County towns pay $6.7 million in income taxes

State Auditor Ferguson reported Lorain County and neighboring areas collected over 6.7 million dollars in 1970 city income taxes. Amounts range from 3.15 million in Lorain to 39,972 in Wellington, with statewide city taxes totaling about 298.669 million and local rates from 2 percent to 1.7 percent in Hamilton County communities.

Woman locked in storeroom seven years near Cleveland

A 59 year old woman emerged from a storeroom after being locked inside for most of seven years. Neighbors described years of moaning and crying as deputies found bars on windows and a boarded front. The husband, Joseph, is being questioned as police and sheriff's deputies investigate. The woman was taken to Hawthornden State Hospital for evaluation and the case referred to the county prosecutor.

Nixon urges Congress to cap spending at 250 billion

President Nixon asked Congress to enact a 250 billion ceiling for fiscal 1973, warning against excessive spending that could raise taxes and prices and reduce purchasing power. He said the administration already faces an estimated overrun of about seven billion above the budget and threatened a veto of any contrary measures.
