Cuban hijack to Cuba ends with two minor injuries
A nervous man armed with a gun and dynamite hijacked National Airlines Flight 183 from Miami to Jacksonville. He shot a stewardess Sue Bond and passenger Larry Evans. both were treated in Havana and the jet returned to Miami with 83 aboard. The hijacker was later removed by Cuban militiamen.

One-car crash on Route 20 leaves man dead
A man died in a one car collision on Route 20 near Russia Road last night around 7 pm. Deputies led by Captain James Mertz investigated as hospitals withheld the victim’s name until his wife could be notified. The car veered into the left bridge rail on the West Branch Black River bridge and the driver was pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
