In Casper Wyoming a nine year old epileptic boy named Kevin Dye vanishes among Casper Mountain cliffs canyons and brush. Up to 2000 searchers, including ground teams and helicopter spotters, scoured the area before officially calling off the hunt in hopes he calms down. A new mini operation with National Guardsmen was planned.

FBI Sniper Ends Milan-Bound Hijack At LaGuardia

A man fitting a hijacking profile aboard a Trans World Airlines jet at LaGuardia revealed a pistol, hijacked to Chicago then to Kennedy, shot by FBI agent Kenneth Levin as he walked a hostage stewardess toward a Milan flight. The slain hijacker was 27 year old Richard A. Obergfell of Clifton New Jersey. The stewardess Idie Maria Concepcion 21 remained shaken but unhurt after the standoff.

Havana bound hijack casts doubt on National Airlines flight

National Airlines reported a Miami to Jacksonville DC8 with about 87 onboard was hijacked to Cuba and en route to Havana. Ohio strike activity persisted with pickets planned at rail yards as railway workers challenged disruptions across major N and W terminals. The railroad operates 1600 miles of track in 53 counties, employing about 9000 in Ohio, including 2500 union members.

Tragic 15 aboard car killed in Connecticut crash

In Berlin Connecticut a four door sedan carrying 15 people crashed into an embankment and rolled over fatally injuring six. Three victims were children ages 8 3 and 4. The 30 year old driver and two other adults also died. Nine others were hurt. All occupants were related. An 18 year old Philadelphia girl survived. The car was on Christian Lane at a T intersection with Deming Street when it left the road.
