NRC praises Davis-Besse drill while urging improvements
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission commended Toledo Edison Co. for a successful emergency drill at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station but warned maintenance and management must improve. NRC officials said a detailed plan for fixes is needed before restart and noted past NRC oversight could have been stronger. Addressing the event, commissioner Asselstine cited better administration yet called for ongoing changes.
