Heat wave grips the East with advisories and storms
Overnight southern Atlantic temperatures held in the 70s and 80s as aHeat advisory remained in effect for today and Friday across Georgia. Heat indices were forecast between 105 and 110 degrees in Alabama Florida North and South Carolina. Showers and thunderstorms were expected from New England to the Midwest with isolated storms in Arizona. A state of emergency was declared in northern Kansas counties Cloud Mitchell and Washington after a severe thunderstorm with 100 mph winds and baseball size hail.
