Abortion protestors challenge Cincinnati jail law
In Cincinnati an ordinance imposing jail time and fines for trespassing at medical facilities faces a First Amendment challenge. Attorney Thomas Condit says the May 28 ordinance singles out abortion protesters, while assistant city prosecutor Karla Burtch argues a compelling interest in protecting access to medical care justifies the law. The judge, Hamilton County Municipal Judge Harry Mellwain, will rule July 17. Condit represents 35 protesters arrested June 19 who blocked the Women's Med Center clinic using bodies and vehicles.
