Columbia Homecoming Gala Ends With Traffic Jam
A large crowd estimated at 10 000 to 12 000packed Route 82 and surrounding areas after a fireworks climax at the Columbia Homecoming Celebration Sunday night. Vehicles filled the VFW lot churchyards and school grounds with cars lining the highway. More than 30 entries competed in the blueberry baking contest with Sheila Jadud winning first prize for an unusual peach blueberry cherry dessert. Second and third prize ribbons went to several contestants in pies desserts and bread with prize money funded by the auction proceeds. Contest judges included Robert May William Mahoney Phil Hicks and Richard Thompson.

Oberlin city budget signals no deficit this year
City manager Dale Sugerman reports Oberlin's general fund will be in the black for the fiscal year ending December 31, with 1986 revenues projected at 2.58 million and expenditures at 2.49 million. Revenue from income taxes is rising to offset a cut in federal revenue sharing, and no staff cuts are planned though merit pay may be tightened.
