Curtain rises in Oberlin tonight on Susannah
The Oberlin Music Theater opens its first season with Carlisle Floyd’s folk opera Susannah at 7 30 p m tonight in Hall auditorium. Walter Hook stars as Rev Olin Blitch with Noelle Rogers as Susannah. The show runs through Saturday with 8 30 p m curtains and a 2 p m Saturday matinee. Roy Lazarus directs.

Two votes against on first reading stall Elyria parkway plan

Ice cream sundae sets world record at Wooster
The 883 pound sundae containing 42 flavors was eaten in 45 minutes by about 2000 people during a fireworks display. Bob Bercaw, owner of the Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant, claimed the record surpassing Baskin Robbins 667 pound sundae.
