Water service was curtailed in three areas as breaks occurred in pipes under East Avenue Furnace and Lowell Streets between 5 and 5:30 a.m. The 30 to 40 year old lines failed possibly due to a slight pressure increase from new pumping facilities. Repairs progressed on Lowell Street and East Avenue. Furnace Street leak was deemed less serious at presstime.
