Ohio miners blast Governor White over strike policy
Corning Ohio July 7 strike leaders from the United Mine Workers assail Governor George White for his handling of the state wide bituminous mine walkout. Lee Hall and others speak before about 5000 miners from Hocking Athens Perry and Muskingum counties accusing state forces of using soldiers and bullets instead of wheat and charging the governor with enforcing a rule that local workers be used only where the mine operates. Hall says White cannot be trusted to carry out his ten point plan and claims evidence shows sheriffs escorting strike breakers to the county line and handing them to National Guardsmen for transport to Lick Run mine in Nelsonville breaking faith with the miners.
