First stage of health care overhaul to reach uninsured
The first stage of President Obama’s health care overhaul will cover about 1 million uninsured by next year, with more than 100 million gaining new benefits elsewhere. Early changes include young adult coverage to 26, protections for those with pre existing conditions, elimination of lifetime limits, and faster access to Medicare for certain cases. 2011 marks the start of full early benefits, while 2014 brings broader rules for insurers.
