Former Vermilion mayor Jimmy Davis died Sunday in Cleveland at age 60 while treated at University Hospitals Cardiac ICU. Davis, who led Vermilion for 10 years, advocated public works, built a new police station and courthouse, and fostered school partnerships before his death. He held roles as council president and public works director and was active in Second Harvest, Trinity Lutheran Church, and Blessing House.

City to christen Kerstetter Way in Elyria on Friday

Elyria will rename North Street to Kerstetter Way with a 2 p.m. dedication near the East Falls Walkway. The street honors Officer James Kerstetter killed in the line of duty on March 15, 44th birthday, as City Council earlier approved the change. A memorial 5K Run and Walk proceeds on Saturday along a route familiar to Kerstetter.
