Fireworks begin at dusk at the Oberlin Recreation Complex 225 W Hamilton St with a rain date Wednesday. The Rochester Fourth of July Homecoming begins at 8 am at Eagle Street Park and fire station with a parade at 10 30 am and a sunset fireworks display. Sheffield Lake Community Days include a July 14 boat launch fireworks. Vermilion hosts Independence Day concert at The Tabernacle with True North Chorale and Orchestra at 7 30 pm admission $1 limited seating.

Avon Council approves sewer and water rate increases
Avon City Council approved rate hikes for sanitary sewer and water with a 5 percent rise in sewer to 6.70 per 1000 gallons and a 6 percent increase in water to 4.51 per 1000 gallons. The average annual bills would be about 617 for sewer and 419 for water, both below state averages. In August the increases take effect and taps for larger projects see a 10 percent rise.
