A 2 p.m. God and Country Rally at Ely Park supports area church singing groups. Banks and many offices close tomorrow for Independence Day.
President Nixon opened a five year bicentennial era at the National Archives urging Americans to renew dedication to the founders. He said the American Revolution is ongoing and cited a spirit of adventure and moral courage. Chief Justice Burger and Speaker Carl Albert attended the ceremony near the Declaration and Constitution as the nation nears its 1776 birthday.
