Four of six youths who escaped from the Boys Industrial School near Lancaster Ohio were captured in a nearby woods. Two about sixteen year old boys fired a 22 caliber rifle at Robert Jones 50 of Dover and Wesley Denton near the Wheeling and Lake Erie rail line in Brighton township as a freight train passed. Jones was struck in the lower left leg and both suspects fled into nearby woods toward Clyde after the incident. Deputy sheriffs searched for them. Jones said they had planned to pick cherries in Clyde before returning to Dover.
