William Niehous Freed After 32-Year Venezuelan Kidnapping

Ohio businessman William F Niehous, held for more than three years by leftist guerrillas in Venezuela for a 35 million dollar ransom, was rescued by police at a jungle hideout. He was later handed to the US Embassy in Caracas and accompanied to Toledo, Ohio. Police said Niehous appeared healthy but exhausted after the ordeal. News of the release followed a shootout in which two guerrillas were killed and a fourth captured.
