Juvenile Delinquency Up 66 Percent in Ohio Since 1945
Ohio juvenile delinquency has risen 66 percent since World War II, driven by rural area increases and factors from the Korean War era. John Ferguson, head of Ohio's Juvenile Research Bureau, cites age 16 and 17 offenders, industry relocation, broken homes, and shifting family dynamics as key causes, with costs near one million dollars nationally. Strong local prevention is urged while Ohio works to reclaim youths in institutions.
