Green Berets aid rural Carolina county in peacetime role
The Army sends 80 Green Berets to Anson County North Carolina to work with doctors police and schools. Brig. Gen. Henry Emerson says the project aims to keep troops engaged after Vietnam and improve the Army image by assisting with local needs such as schools and clinics. The approach is cooperative asking residents what they need and helping them help themselves.
