Two more arson fires hit Lorain on North Central Drive
Two abandoned four unit homes on North Central Drive in Lorain burned within hours of each other Sunday night. Arson is suspected as neither building had utilities and both were vacant. First fire at 814 N Central Drive caused about 20 000 in damage. A second blaze at 852 N Central Drive caused about 10 000 in damage.

Babysitter indicted on rape charges in Lorain County
Christopher Mansell, a 22 year old Columbia Township man, was indicted on one count of rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition for alleged abuse of six children ages under 10 in 2008 and 2009. He remains in Lorain County Jail with a 250000 cash and 250000 personal bond. Five alleged victims are boys and one girl, with three victims being brothers.

City to bill motorists for Route 57 light pole hits
Elyria officials say repairing toppled 250-watt light poles along state Route 57 costs about 2,200 dollars each including installation. When poles are damaged, the contractor repairs them and bills the city, which pursues the responsible motorist or insurer. Man gets 19 year term in Elyria home invasion
Lorain man Angel M Cruz was sentenced to 19 years after jurors found him guilty of kidnapping aggravated burglary and theft in an armed home invasion on West Ridge Road. Co defendant Pedro Vera received 10 years after pleading guilty. The crime occurred Aug 12 at about 1130 p m while a 31 year old woman and her 5 year old daughter were in the home. The intruders bound the woman with duct tape and fled with valuables including a 52 inch TV a computer a PlayStation Portable and cash. The husband arrived home around 1230 a m and encountered the three assailants as they left.
