Nelson M. Prisoners Returned To Allies In Korea Turnback

More than 20,000 Korean and Chinese war prisoners renounced communism and marched to freedom in bitter cold and rain. By nightfall 20,299 were handed to United Nations forces, including 12,731 Chinese sent to Inchon for possible future action from Formosa. North Korean POWs totaled 7,568 returned to UN Command, with the rest still crossing the demilitarized edge. Interruption for screenings caused a halt mid progress before resuming, as 54 Chinese and 32 North Koreans requested repatriation to Communism.

No Evidence Of Shakedown By State Dept Staff

Washington report says an intensive probe found no evidence that State Department personnel engaged in a $150,000 shakedown of a friendly foreign country. Sen. Warren teen dies after car crash incident

Linda Anderson, 15, of Warren was killed Tuesday night when she was thrown from a car onto the road and struck by an oncoming vehicle. The accident happened when the car she rode in spun in the road about a mile north of Warren.

Driver Dies As Truck Burns In Westlake Crash

Westlake police investigated a crash at the Columbia Road and Westwood Avenue intersection shortly before noon yesterday. Rudolph Lange, 62, of Denison Avenue, died from injuries or burns. A Cleveland truck driven by Lance failed to stop at a red light and struck a car driven by Berars Raible of Bas View Hospital. The truck overturned and its gas tanks burst into flames. Raible is in good condition, while Lange's body was sent to the Cuyahoga County morgue.
