Victim Leonard Moskovitz a 36 year old San Francisco realtor was held for 64 hours before police captured two suspects Harold Jackson 57 and Joseph Lear 43 in the Sacramento area. The ransom was reduced from 500000 to 300000. He was found unharmed and reunited with his family at the Hall of Justice after an incident that drew wide media attention and involved a downtown residence confinement. The suspects were described as professionals and were taken to the Hall of Justice.
Police Chief James E. Boggs urged the city to finance a new police building and to add five officers to the 36-member squad in his annual report.
