Bride-elect Miss Malvina Hasza of 120 West River street announces marriage to Vester Young son of Luther Young of Amherst. The ceremony is set for Feb 5 in Sacred Heart Church with a party for 90 guests.
The Elyria Republican Women’s Club installs officers and hosts a bridal shower for Miss Georgia Lee Osborne. Miss Osborne, to wed Robert Kaatz January 29, receives gifts as speakers address juvenile delinquency and youth services. Also notes a YWCA meeting, a hospital fund pledge, and a surprise birthday party for Troy Turner.
The Catholic Sunshine Club held its annual meeting at St. Jude's Hall Tuesday with a tureen dinner. E J Stankard was reelected president for the 24th term. New officers include vice president A Schoenbacher, secretary treasurer Mrs J Schirack, trustees Mrs Arthur Davis Mrs Frank Guy William Resar and Frank Kelling. Rev Fr John Carrabine praised the organization and stressed Catholic action.
Mrs. Walter Magee Ohio Federation second vice president outlined Federation aims at Elyria Woman's Club, stressing clubwomen as the conscience of America, launching Legislation Days, and the value of federated service. She highlighted international aid, education through The Guide for Club Women, and the need for active membership. The program included Robert Burns features and local club activities at tea and Department Day events.
A busy community calendar lists guest night at Tonigo with Mrs Frieda Latimer speaking on hair grooming. Various groups including Women of the Moose, St Clair Rebekah Lodge, Catholic Study Club No 6, Nu Phi Mu skating, Eagles auxiliary anniversary dinner, Industrial Nurses, Elyria Gold Star Mothers, First Methodist Circle No 13, El-Rey Caldron, Ni-Fo-Si club, Nazarene Church Missionary Society, Elyria Alumni Choir, Magyar Evangelical Circle No 3, Literary Club and other church and civic events are scheduled at local venues with meetings, luncheons, papers, and socials. A Circle meeting re elected officers, new member welcomed, subscriptions discussed, and plans for a February meeting outlined. Rummage sale announced for Kamms on January 20.
The Elyria Business and Professional Women's club held a dinner in the Wick room of First Congregational church with forty members and guests. New members Miss Alice D. Maple and Mrs. Erma I. Hultz joined. Vivian Hackett returned. The program explained emblems of BPW and featured a Tan modern piano interlude by Mrs. Frederick Meng. A survey showed members' varied professions, and a pledge was read as new members were welcomed. The group voted to donate to the March of Dimes and support the Elyria Memorial Hospital Drive. A large card party is planned for February 21 at the YWCA gym, open to guests.
St Marys P T A offers a free leadership course for youth leaders and parents. Handicraft sessions taught. Held in the church hall on Friday February 21 at 8 pm.

Royal Rollers Skate Club officers chosen: Harold Beckloff president, Dorothy Sayers VP, Mary Tomeko secretary, Eleanor Forrest treasurer. A skating party planned in Berea today and next meeting at Olga Kaczay’s home. Circle No 3 Pilgrim Congregational Church set Washington birthday party for February 22 at Mrs. Fred Schubert’s 129 Brand Stone Ave. Losers of tax stamp contest to entertain at February party. Hostess served dessert. guests included Mrs. A. Wirth. Mrs. Roy Kiser to host February 15 at 247 Roosevelt Ave.
The Lorain Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women met at Sacred Heart church hall Oberlin serving a tureen luncheon for about 50 members. Fr. Blair spoke on The Knowledge of the Mass and Catholicism urging attendance at Unity Octave services and detailing upcoming retreats and Cana conferences. Next meeting set for February 15 at the K of C hall Lorain with Ladies Auxiliary as hostesses.
