At the 48th annual meeting of Elyria Savings and Trust company all directors were reelected. Officers include R J Fitch as president and R H Rice as chairman. The president reported gains in time and demand deposits, a net increase in all deposits, and earnings of 105,923.77 before taxes with 75,770.35 after taxes. He noted stockholders accepted modest dividends and capital accounts stood at 886,271.21, more than double the 1934 figure.

Collision probe opens into Gulfstream Eastwind disaster
A five man Coast Guard court of inquiry convened to investigate the Gulfstream and Eastwind collision 100 miles southeast of New York. Eleven sailors were killed and 20 injured. 126 crew aboard Eastwind and 41 on Gulfstream escaped harm. Fire followed the 4 30 a m crash, Eastwind towed to New York with firefighters extinguishing the blaze after 11 hours.

Police investigated a break in at Harry Brown Motor Sales Co. 630 Middle Avenue last night. An employee found the garage and office entered this morning. The safe was moved from the wall and a hinge cap nut removed, but the combination was untouched. Desks were ransacked. nothing missing. Six Kipton High students under county juvenile investigation for theft of school property were placed on probation by Juvenile Judge HK Nye after a hearing.
