Veterans Job Search Faces Tougher Hurdles Says Bradley

Washington veteran affairs head Omar Bradley told the House Labor Committee that 600,000 ex servicemen already draw unemployment checks totaling about a half billion dollars annually. He warned he lacks authority to enforce policies as he leads the Veterans Employment Service and coordinates with the USES. He urged Congress to fund a larger staff and balked at transferring Vet Employment Service back to the states while noting a large share of veterans plan to seek new jobs rather than return to old ones.
