Defends Making Changes In Pension Sums

In Columbus Ohio on January 19 Wray Bevens head of the Ohio Old Age Pension Division defended changes in monthly pension amounts saying they align with Federal Social Security Board rules. He accused State Auditor Joseph T Ferguson of misleading Ohio citizens while Ferguson claimed the changes cause extra bookkeeping and time. Bevens said the Social Security Board required the changes to restore federal funds, which were withdrawn in October. He projected January reductions averaging 10 to 15 cents per pensioner from an average of 23.01 in the prior three months.
