South Amherst launches a Red Cross First Aid Class organized by Mrs. Geraldine Gifford with 21 members. Sessions planned weekly at 7:00 P M at the village fire station taught by Edgar Ellis of Lorain. Mrs Gifford spoke on first aid relevance to highway safety. Congregational church attendance contest ends with Blues winning. Reds host party at church parlors. Church Board outlines budget and Father and Son banquet plans for February 16. canvas discussed.
Reverend M A Burris schedules a two week revival at the Methodist church starting Tuesday evening. Out of town speakers will be featured and the public is invited. Separately the South Amherst PTA hosts a minstrel show in the school auditorium this Thursday performed by local talent directed by Horace Goodman of Lorain to help cover PTA expenses for new dishes. Volunteer Firemen met Friday at the fire station for routine work and committee reports, followed by a social hub and refreshments.
The Eaton Ladies Aid Society voted at the last meeting to provide the lunch at Petersdale on January 18 and asked all members to bring pies. Several local residents attended meetings and visits, including hospital stays and travel to adjacent towns, with updates on family and church activities.
George Aldrich bought the Davis Woods and is cutting and sawing the trees into lumber. A Sunday group of Eaton youth, chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fishburn, attended Sunday School and church services at Lakewood Christian Church to observe new methods. Attendees included Wilma Mezurek, Geraldine Blaine, Dorothy Rice, Mary Cornish, Florence Reichard, Glenn Tompkins, Richard Smith and Park Dimaline. Mrs. George Cornish has been sick the past week, and Bonnie Fishburn is ill and absent from school. Chester Carpenter, Malcolm Tompkins, Julius Wilcox of LaGrange, and Robert Ringle with Earl Peabody of Elyria visited Herbert Fisher at the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday night.
Wakeman Young Republican Club will meet February 6 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Kenyon on Pleasant Street. Mrs. C J Cranston will host the Bridge club at her River Street home Wednesday evening. Eastern Star District Day will gather at the River Street school on Saturday January 26.
Directors of the Redcaps Baseball Club met Tuesday evening and elected Leonard Gerber as president, Gains Scott of Lorain as vice president, and Charles Bement as secretary and treasurer. Other directors include CC. S. Clark Sr. and Elwood Stever. Mrs Otto Geist and Camden’s granddaughter attended as guests of Mrs Dora Pomeroy.
Real estate transfers recorded include The Fouind Tithe Guarantee and Trust Company with multiple sublets in Vermilion on the Lake and Brownhelm Township, transfers to The Vermilion-on-the-Lake Development Co, and various parcels on Edgewater Blvd and Gulf Road.
