Four Killed In Crash Of Air Liner In Mont
Four people died when a Northwest Airlines twin engine liner crashed shortly after takeoff from Miles City Montana bound for Seattle. The wreckage burned and investigators from the civil aeronautics authority prepared to examine the scene. The crew included Captain C. B. Chamberlain and First Officer Ray Norby. Three others named Mrs. Morgan Orris R F Zamzer and M C Hewitt were identified among the dead with Hewitt initially believed aboard as a deadhead passenger. The crash followed a weather hold and occurred about four minutes after takeoff near the field. Investigators from the air safety board arrived to probe the disaster, the first fatal Winter American Airways crash in the region this season.

In Defiance Ohio on January 14 three Wabash crew members aboard train No. 12 were hurt when spreading rails caused the locomotive to strike an open switch and capsize. Fair Grounds To Be Sold To Highest Bidder
A court order signed by Common Pleas Judge Guy B Find ley directs the sale of the Lorain County Fair Grounds to satisfy a $26,354 judgment held by The Elyria Savings and Trust Company. The 22 acre site along Black River will be sold by the sheriff to the highest bidder unless redeemed by the Lorain County Agricultural Society within 30 days. If the bank buys the property it may rent it to the Agricultural Society for August’s three day county fair. The foreclosure follows a fall refusal by county commissioners to take over or fund the debt.

Fire destroys 110 sacks of mail on train baggage car
Kenton Ohio January 14 A fire in the baggage car of the Royal Palm south bound train of the Big Four railroad destroyed 110 sacks of mail and express. The fire started in the locked car at Toledo and consigned to Springfield Urbana and Bellefontaine. The train halted 79 minutes while the blaze was put out. The loss was expected to reach thousand dollars.
