Letters prompt $3M libel suit against Midview officials
Midview Superintendent Ter rance Furin and Assistant Superintendent Stan Heffner filed a $3 million libel suit last month in Lorain County Common Pleas Court against three unidentified individuals. The suit alleges a conspiracy to harass the educators with vicious letters and a four page parody accusing Furin of being a “smiling dragon” and alleging misuse of funds. The document notes December materials followed October parodies mailed to community members and some to The Chronicle Telegram. The plaintiffs seek $1.5 million each in compensatory and punitive damages and aim to stop further letters and protect their reputations.
