Parachute memory in a Marine love tale at New Year
In Philadelphia a war memoir unfolds from a Naval Base officer club to a Jacksonville bailout. A Marine pilot and a young officer recount a sketched past as a party fades, a radio fails, and a parachute saves a life. The narrator recalls the cane landing, a broken engagement, and a Digest note about finding God on the way down.
