Buddha statue valued at $56,000 found at Maxwell Street stall
A 500-year-old Buddha, stolen last July while en route from Thailand to England, was spotted at a Maxwell Street flea market stall for $500 by a Thai church official. Cornelius Coleman, 53, a ramp man for Flying Tiger Worldwide, operated the stall and was charged with theft of stolen or mislaid property.

Winter storm leaves area blanketed in snow
A Sunday afternoon storm dumped heavy snow across the region with at least seven and a half inches by morning, causing road closures, power outages, and a statewide traveler advisory. Lorain County may see additional inches today, while Cleveland faces six or more inches and continuing harsh winds. Schools closed, including Kent State University, and emergency parking bans were enacted as power outages affected about 30,000 customers in Lakewood, Cleveland, and nearby areas.

Michigan businessman survives plane crash at Lorain County Airport
Melvin J Bernin a 44 year old Ford Motor Co. executive from Farmington Hills Michigan escaped serious injury after landing his twin prop Aerostar 600 at Lorain County Regional Airport in blowing snow. The aircraft spun about 180 degrees struck a snow drift and vaulted into a snow bank about 30 feet from the runway. The fuselage was ripped and left wing prop and landing gear damaged. The plane owned by American Airmotive Inc. of Pontiac completed a normal east landing at about 6 15 a.m. and rolled about 300 yards before losing control.
