Young and old enjoyed the toboggan slide at Camp Iss-See-Kies last night. Riders in line included Gary Shriver George Day 82 Don Volak Jr Dennis Volak and Rick Shriver. The Vermilion River facility is unique in the area and is sponsored by the Elyria YMCA.
Elyria's new 11 member council, with seven Democrats and four Republicans, adopts rules requiring eight votes to pass laws on suspension and nine for emergency measures. The change follows a charter shift and aims to curb controversial bills amid party lines. Meetings stay on the first and third Mondays at 7 30 p.m. in council chambers.

County Commissioner J Norman Thompson was elected president of the three man board at its annual reorganization. Thompson begins a fifth four year term and succeeds Ludwig M Pincura who was president last year. The board rotates the presidency and Jerry Keron is slated to hold it next year. They rehired current personnel across offices and departments.
