Stockholm UPI reports two more American servicemen asked for political asylum to escape Vietnam war duty. One a sailor and one a soldier, their cases join four other deserters already in Sweden, with decisions expected next Tuesday.
CAPE TOWN AP Philip Blaiberg, the second man fitted with a human heart, may be home in about three weeks if his condition remains satisfactory, Dr Christian Barnard said. He could resume normal activity within months, with daily hospital checkups planned after discharge. Blaiberg’s organs showed improvement including kidneys and liver returning to normal, brain mood improved, though past rejection concerns linger.
In Paris Trinh of North Vietnam urged a negotiated end to the Indochina conflict as the Geneva framework remains under review. India chairs the International Control Commission with Canada Poland and the United States watching closely for possible peace talks and a bombing halt. U Thant in New York said Trinh’s remarks support seeking a halt to U.S. bombing to push negotiations forward.
U.S. envoy Bowles and President Johnson's special envoy to Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk will travel to Phnom Penh to address issues including Cambodian sanctuary for Vietnamese communists and the hot pursuit of those forces. The plan, announced by Bangkok radio, focuses on curbing cross border activity and ensuring Cambodian cooperation.

Doctors found no obvious cause of the Braham quintuplet's death at four days old and began intensive tests. Geoffrey Roger Braham died after illness on Thursday. Surviving siblings are reported in entirely satisfactory condition. Lloyds of London will pay 446 on the policy for this multiple birth.

He lists nearly two dozen stocks and bonds valued at 474 000 plus life insurance and property in Washington Ohio Florida and Mississippi including a Mississippi oil lease with a potential 22 percent profit share. He notes 1967 income from the Senate 30 000 and 11 232.93 in interest 28 536.05 in capital gains and 635 in honorariums, while maintaining stock ownership and opposing oil depletion allowances.
New York trading started with gains outpacing losses. General Motors fell to 8153, General Instrument rose to 57, while General Refracto Dividends appeared as a noted item in opening prices.
Ohio manufacturers aim to boost Latin American exports with a Caracas based office starting today. James A. Verreos, former U S commercial attache in Caracas, becomes fulltime manager coordinating between Ohio firms and Latin American buyers. The office is funded by Ohio Trade Missions Inc at no cost to taxpayers and run by the Development Department International Trade Division.
