De Salle seeks prison chief as probe of special inmate favors
Gov elect De Salle in Columbus said he is seeking a new head of the Ohio Division of Corrections and will probe reports that inmates at the Ohio Penitentiary receive special treatment. He aims to replace prisons chief Maury Koblentz and to review alleged favoritism connected to the Samuel Sheppard case and other inmates. He cited unauthorized visits at the prison hospital and said multiple officials declined interview requests. The inquiry follows a state patrol report about gangster Yonnie Licavoli receiving access to the Hocking County honor camp and notes ongoing concerns about preferential treatment for Sheppard.
