Gacy defense cites “swiss cheese superego” in insanity plea

Psychologists testifying for John Wayne Gacy's defense described him as mentally ill with serious psycho sexual disorders. They said he shows a fragmented superego and episodes of rage when situations lack structure, while noting he can distinguish right from wrong. Gacy faced multiple murder charges related to 33 young victims.

Part delays cool down at Crystal River N plant

A Florida Power spokesman called the Crystal River plant incident a two or three on a zero to 10 scale and said the reactor would reach cold shutdown after a spare pump is fixed. About 43,000 gallons of radioactive water spilled from a misfunctioning control system, but NRC officials stressed no core damage and no radiation release.
