North Olmsted school cuts trim costs and keep levy on track

North Olmsted School District saved 1.7 million by cutting staff 6 percent and reducing expenses. Superintendent Norma Conner says levy proceeds will fund three more years of operations, despite losing about 250 thousand in state funds. Savings came from eliminating adult education, dropping a girls gymnastics and a boys soccer post, fewer field trips, less overtime, and smaller summer programs. The district updated facilities with improvements funded by the 1994 permanent improvement levy and achieved an effective rating on 17 of 22 standards.
