Wellington Water Restored After Main Break

Wellington residents faced 24 hours of limited water use after a break in the eight inch transmission line from the Pitts Road filtration plant left the village nearly without water since 3 a.m. yesterday. Utilities director Robert Dupee said full supply should return to normal by 8 a.m. tomorrow if no further breaks occur. The 800000 gallon elevated tank serving the 5000 person community lost all water, with 175000 gallons recovered by early morning.

Swollen river halts search for lost Monroeville boys

Ground and air searches for Joe Kimball and Jack Kimball, brothers aged 13 and 12, missing since Wednesday night near Monroeville have been suspended as authorities monitor river conditions. Deputies and volunteers traced them to the Huron River edge, but no signs or clothing have been found, with fears they may be submerged. The family of Alfred and Dolores Kimball lives on Sandusky Road in Peru, and authorities note the boys were familiar with the river and accustomed to safety rules. Both attended Monroeville High School and belonged to St Joseph Catholic Church. they were seventh graders and brothers in the Kimball family of five at home.

City employees face loss of Blue Cross medical coverage

Blue Cross of Northeast Ohio may suspend coverage for more than 600 city workers due to unpaid premiums. City Auditor Thomas M. Radican said two months behind on payments. the city cannot confirm suspension. The cost is 256,000 monthly, and unpaid bills exceed 700,000 on last year, worsening financial strain and risking labor disputes with Local 27 AFSCME.

Cleveland desegregation plan may include massive busing

The Cleveland Board of Education provides a desegregation plan in U S District Court proposing heavy busing. NAACP lawyers and board officials met in Washington with Justice Department officials to discuss federal intervention. Ghostly rattle stirs Columbus home as deputies probe
