Brothers Missing as Huron River Search Expands

Sheriff deputies and search teams along the swollen Huron River hunted for Joseph Kumbail 13 and Jack A. 12 after dogs led to a creek near their Monroeville home. The boys, last seen after 4:15 pm, likely entered the creek feeding the river amid swift water and ice.

Plane crash in Pennsylvania kills officials and others

A state plane crashed into a suburban home in Harrisburg killing Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary William Sherlock, Republican State Committee Chairman Len Frame, and six others. Inmates clash at Mansfield Ohio State Reformatory

About 200 inmates at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield threw trays and food and fought guards in the dining hall. At least 10 guards were injured as 50 to 60 officers from other sections were called in to quell the disturbance. Some chemical mace was used. Two inmates were treated for minor injuries. The prison houses 2,500 inmates.
