Reliability drops in major auto dependability survey
The J D Power study questions 35 186 owners of 2014 model year vehicles about issues in the last 12 months. Tech troubles like Bluetooth pairing and voice command glitches pulled down dependability scores across the industry, with an average of 156 problems per 100 vehicles, the highest since 2015. Top brands include Lexus and Porsche, Toyota Buick and Mercedes-Benz followed, while Fiat Jeep and Infiniti ranked lowest. Batteries failures rose 44 percent as more electric features and alternate powertrains enter vehicles.
