Bank robber holds family hostage in Indiana standstill
In a tense standoff, bank robber Don Patterson negotiated a deal to free his two young hostages Rob 10 and Mike 6 in exchange for a getaway car. Accomplice Richard Baker was wounded and detained as authorities sealed roads near Eaton, Ohio. Patterson demanded a car with fuel and a 45 minute start, while the SUV used by the gang was left with four flat tires after a roadblock. Patterson, known as Silver Streak, conducted the negotiation from a store in Richmond, Indiana, as police monitored the scene.

Bank Robbery Suspects Arrested After Elyria Heist
Three men suspected of robbing the Elyria Sayings and Trust Bank on Lowell Street of about $16,000 were detained in Rocky River after a traffic stop about an hour later. The suspects William J Simpson Craig Hayes and J C Blanding were 33 26 and 40 from Cleveland Euclid and Warrensville Heights. They faced U S Magistrate Herbert Maher for bail and arraignment. FBI noted armed assailants who fled in a stolen brown station wagon then a blue Cadillac. The men were stopped by Rocky River officers after a statewide bulletin was issued.
