Cigarette break ends long ordeal in Indiana and Ohio
An escaped convict and bank robber, Bryan B. Ball, 40, of Springfield, surrendered after he put a revolver on a car seat to light a cigarette, a hostage, Robert Herrman, 38, from Eldorado, grabbed the gun. Ball had held Herrman and his two children for about 30 hours after a Tuesday bank robbery in Richmond, Indiana. Herrman and the children were unharmed, Ball requested more cars and a head start, then relaxed to smoke. FBI agents pursued as Ball surrendered following the cigarette incident.

Harrassed executive charged in Berea boy slaying
William T. Peterseim a 37 year old real estate executive faces aggravated murder charges after a 15 year old Berea youth Robert Squire was shot in front of the Peterseim home early Wednesday.
