Boxer hospitalized after bout accident in Lorain
Franchot Johnson 17 of 1534 East th Street is in guarded condition at St Joseph hospital after a referee struck him in the throat during a bout at the Antlers Hotel. Fire-rescue rushed him after witnesses say referee Mike Brandon elbowed Johnson while breaking a clinch with Dennis Fitch. Johnson was coughing blood and taken from the hotel to the dressing room before hospital transport. The two middleweights were in the second round when the injury occurred. Johnson is the son of Mrs Jeannine Johnson.

Oberlin draft protester vows resistance to induction
Oberlin College junior John G. Dove 21 of Oak Park Illinois says he is a draft delinquent for taking part in an October 26 antiwar demonstration and will fight induction. He plans to sue the draft board if the status isn’t removed and says he would enlist in the Marines if drafted under normal circumstances. Previously, 12 students were fined for disorderly conduct and 17 more to be sentenced after the protest. Dove was not cited.

Cancer drive fuels help for Lorain victims in 1967
Lorain County contributions to the American Cancer Society totaled at least 38 500 with 30 500 allocated to the Lorain County Chapter. About 137 people received services including 45 sick room items and 34 000 dressings. leukemia funds largely funded national research while local services and education supported county patients and detection programs.
