Galveston Eyes Census Count to Preserve Funding

Galveston officials warn a 2010 Census undercount could slash state and federal funding for transit and housing. Ike's 2008 destruction left 75 percent of homes damaged and population around 46,000, prompting appeals to count off island residents still rebuilding. Census officials say counts reflect where people live on April 1 2010 and cannot be adjusted for storm impact.
