Kroger to acquire Hook Drugs in merger deal
Kroger Co of Cincinnati will buy Indianapolis based Hook Drugs Co in a cash and Kroger stock deal. The merger requires Hook Drugs shareholders approval and preserves Hook’s identity. Kroger operates 1318 grocery, 443 convenience and 621 drug stores nationwide and owns SupeRx. Lyle Everingham says the move boosts Kroger’s retail drug business. Rite Aid has been making a cash tender offer for Hook Drugs at 36.50 per share.
