Severe Pacific Northwest storm lashes coasts and kills seven
Vicious storm from the Pacific lashed Washington Oregon and northern California with 100 mph winds and high tides. A portion of Hood Canal's longest floating bridge sank, and four seamen aboard the Wistaria Coral were lost off Oregon. Two men died from falling trees in Washington. Power outages, school closures, and riverboats swept from moorings marked the chaos as a blizzard hit the Cascades and Sierra searching for Boy Scouts.
