Suburbs fuel Cleveland income tax showdown drives vote
Suburban residents of Bay Village North Olmsted and Brunswick face a Cleveland income tax debate that could push next year’s receipts past 100 million dollars, with tight polls and a debate between Mayor Voinovich and Dennis Kucinich on WKYC TV. Voinovich touts a large suburban share while critics say the tax burden is overstated and turnout may be low amid bad weather. The issue centers on how much suburbs pay versus city residents and the impact on federal revenue sharing.
