Synthetic insulin tests to begin in six centers nationwide
Detroit reports that Eli Lilly plans a first nationwide test of lab produced biosynthetic insulin in about 200 volunteers at six medical centers including Detroit and Trenton with possible Canadian sites. The goal is a cheap abundant substitute for animal insulin and to reduce allergic reactions while addressing a looming supply risk.
