Ohio bill targets sanctuary cities in immigrant policy
A GOP led bill would ban sanctuary jurisdictions in Ohio and impose civil and criminal penalties mirroring a Colorado measure. It cites Columbus and Cincinnati as adopting protections while Oberlin currently acts alone in Lorain County. State leaders urge conformity with federal law, drawing on cases of crimes by noncitizens and noting Columbus Mayor Ginther and Cincinnati Mayor Crawley oppose the move.
