Elyria neighborhood revives as vacant homes are demolished
In Hazel Street and surrounding blocks, long‑vacant houses drew crime and decay until 2013 when Kevin Brubaker and the city began aggressively demolishing derelict properties. Four homes on Hazel Street were removed, improving the area and ending decades of deterioration.
