Ask Advance On Taxes For Schools
The Elyria Board of Education approved a resolution to the county auditor to advance 35000 on anticipated tax collections to meet the next school payroll. The board has already received 60000 in advances from the county including 25000 from the present tax collection and 35000 from the October tax collection. The board expects about 17000 this month from personal and intangible taxes, but that would not cover February expenses without the advance, said Clerk-Treasurer W McClellan.

He noted signing the reduced appropriation only to prevent larger reductions and halfway replenished exhausted funds. Weather Prophet Calls Ohio Flood a Dress Rehearsal
CHICAGO February 7 Selby Maxwell, long range weather observer, said the current flood in the Ohio river valley is only a dress rehearsal for a major flood in 1940. He forecasts no heavy rain in the valley this year until February 21. He cautions Thursday rains may swell upper tributaries but the Ohio should ease after the present overflow. Maxwell links air tides to the moon’s movements in formulating his forecast.
