Two youths injured in automobile crash near New London Ohio after returning from Wakeman basketball game. Roger Harner 17 suffered severe head and facial wounds with neck cut, jugular vein opened. 21 stitches needed. Richard Roasberry 17 lightly injured. Car wrecked, fog blamed for the accident.
President elect Roosevelt opposes a manufacturers sales tax as a budget balancing measure. He directs advisers to study alternatives with Speaker Garner and plans further economy in government while avoiding new taxes. Garner may visit Hyde Park to discuss a broad program including many subjects.
Governor George White plans a simple in inaugurations day January 9 in Columbus to save costs. The program begins at 10 a m with an informal reception in the gubernatorial chambers for state officials and friends, ending at 11 66.

Chairman Norris of the Senate Judiciary committee named a sub committee to begin hearings next week on the Black Bill to make a five day week and six hour day compulsory in American industry. The measure would bar interstate or foreign commerce products from places with employees working more than five days a week or more than six hours a day. The hearings will begin January 5 with Senators Borah Robinson Black and Walsh on the panel.
The Elyria Post No 12 American Legion reports more than six thousand toys rehabilitated and distributed across Lorain County during a Christmas toy shop project. Captain Paul O Collins supervised operations from November 18 in the Sharp Block with support from Lorain County Voiture 149 and 40 and 8 welfare programs. The effort extended to Avon Lake Lorain Amherst Oberlin Wellington and allied shops in South Amherst La Grange and Grafton. Mrs William Graves Sharp donated the Broad Street space for the shop.

In Moweaqua Illinois a rescue crew recovered six more miners from the debris strewn north chamber of the mine. Racketeers wounded Hugh Dunn a 47 year old guard at the milk wagon drivers union fort on Ashland boulevard as he walked to a bus to go to fortified headquarters. Dunn has guarded union chief Steve Summer 63 whose defiance drew threats against his life. He was hospitalized with mangled hands and arms and surgeons feared his left arm might be amputated.
